II. Caeneus: “The Unbroken…”

Caeneus, born with a female form, asked the god Poseidon to transform his body into a man’s. Impressed by his prayer’s conviction, Poseidon gave him a man’s body, and flesh invulnerable to the blow of earthly weapons.
Caeneus made a name for himself as a great warrior, joining in the hunt for the Calydonian Boar, and fighting in the Centauromachy, the war of humans against centaurs.
Caeneus fought valiantly against a tribe of centaurs, undaunted by their numbers and their jeering insults. Blades and arrows broke against his hide; to circumvent his divine protection, the centaurs buried him under a pile of logs and boulders.
